Why Give UK™ is the vision of Sonia Omojola. Born in Buckinghamshire and grew up in the neighbouring county of Berkshire, she experienced a troubled childhood following the death of her sister and divorce of her parents, spending much of her early teens on the streets and out of education. But at the tender age of 13, her life took a turn when she moved to London.
Introduced to the local church, she went on to experience over twenty retreats, mentoring and encountered deep inner healing (from the emotional turmoil carried from growing up in a dysfunctional home), which she quotes, ‘radically transformed’ her life. Soon after beginning her journey of transformation, she went on to pass her GCSE’s and became the first person in her immediate family to graduate with a degree.
In 2021, Sonia published her first children’s book - The Purple Potion™. Storying a young boy’s quest to find a potion that merges two worlds and causes one to live forever. The book depicts childhood struggle, friendship, resilience and courage - many emotions conveyed which Sonia can relate to. Using literature, creativity and connecting with nature, Why Give UK’s mission is to see young people and their families restored to emotional fulfilment and joy, finding meaningful purpose and to become people who are bold, kind and courageous.
